Mohave County prepares for heat wave

MOHAVE COUNTY – The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for Mohave County, Kingman, Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City and surrounding areas later this week through Monday.  

The desert heat can be very dangerous. Much of the forecast area means that everyone will be at risk due to long-duration heat and little to no overnight relief.

Construction set to begin on I-40/US 93 Kingman interchange

PHOENIX – Work is scheduled to get underway Thursday, July 11, on a free-flowing interchange connecting US 93 and Interstate 40 in Kingman.

The $106 million project is planned to eliminate delays that can occur for passenger and truck traffic on the main route between Las Vegas and Arizona. While traffic now must stop at a traffic signal where Beale Street intersects with I-40, a system-to-system interchange will feature ramps that allow traffic to flow freely.

Fireworks bans for Mohave County

MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. – Mohave County is implementing outdoor fire and permissible consumer fireworks use prohibitions in all unincorporated areas of the county, effective 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2024, due to current and continued hazardous fire risk conditions within the county that include high temperatures, dry conditions (low relative humidity levels), low fuel moisture levels and sustained winds that can include gusts.

Early voting opens Wednesday, June 3 for Mohave County

MOHAVE COUNTY – Thousands of Mohave County residents can be expected to take advantage of the early voting window that opens next Wednesday, July 3. The majority of the county’s registered voters have been casting ballots early for years, as was evident in the local 2020 primary election.

“There were 41,855 (people) who voted. 32,557 of those were voters that voted early,” said Mohave County Recorder Lydia Durst.
