Glen Canyon issues fire response advisory for Lake Powell
To assist with nearby wildfires, fire suppression aircraft will be drawing water from Lake Powell between buoys 43 and 49 to refill tanks as part of ongoing firefighting operations.
To assist with nearby wildfires, fire suppression aircraft will be drawing water from Lake Powell between buoys 43 and 49 to refill tanks as part of ongoing firefighting operations.
From July 4 to 6, 2025, the national Operation Dry Water awareness and enforcement initiative will take place on Lake Powell. Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Rangers, in partnership with the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and the U.S. Coast Guard, will actively participate in the national heightened awareness and enforcement weekend.
The Bridge Creek Fire, which is burning on Navajo Mountain approximately 5 miles from Lake Powell and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, is located on Navajo Nation lands and is approximately 800 acres in size.
