MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue units held their annual Installation and Awards Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 1, with Sheriff Schuster. Searchers from the Bullhead City Unit, Lake Havasu City Unit, Kingman Unit and the Arizona Strip Unit were recognized for their valuable contributions to search and rescue in Mohave County. In 2019, the unit searchers responded to about 100 missions for help and numerous training classes throughout the year. Search and Rescue is made possible with searchers who volunteer their time.

Boaters safety evacuated from blaze

LAKE HAVASU CITY – On Saturday, Feb. 1, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Division of Boating Safety responded to a reported boat fire in the middle of the North Basin on Lake Havasu. According to an MCSO spokesperson, the three boat occupants had made it onto other boats that were in the area, and were not injured. Deputies, utilizing their patrol boat outboard motors, were able to extinguish the fire. The boat was salvaged by a local tow company. Anna Maria Amsen, of Kingman, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020. She was 87. Mrs. Amsen was born June 19, 1932 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Arrangements were made by Sutton Memorial Funeral Home.
