Drivers should be prepared for brief delays

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists traveling on northbound US 93 near Wikieup to plan for the following overnight lane restrictions for the removal and replacement of guardrail: 

* Northbound US 93 will be intermittently narrowed to one lane along a 2-mile segment between mileposts 107 and 109) from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, through Monday, Dec. 23.

Heat deaths of people without air conditioning, often in mobile homes, underscore energy inequity

PHOENIX (AP) — Mexican farm worker Avelino Vazquez Navarro didn’t have air conditioning in the motor home where he died last month in Washington state as temperatures surged into the triple digits.

For the last dozen years, the 61-year-old spent much of the year working near Pasco, Washington, sending money to his wife and daughters in the Pacific coast state of Nayarit, Mexico, and traveling back every Christmas.

Lenore H. Hafley, 82, of Kingman, Arizona, passed away on February 19, 2020. She was born December 13, 1938 to J. Leonard and Grace Neal. Lenore is survived by two sons; Leonard and Ty Hafley, along with 14 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by two sons, Tom E. Hafley and Casey C. Hafley; grandson TJ Hafley; brothers John L. and Raymond Neal; and parents John Leonard and Grace Neal. Lenore loved ranching, horses, cattle, cooking, and the cinema. Too soon gone. Sandy Montgomery of Kingman, Arizona, passed away at the Joan and Diana Hospice House on October 24, 2019, at the age of 80. Sandy was born in Valeska, Iowa, and grew up in Hastings, Neb. She lives for many years in the Phoenix Valley. Sandy married Bob Montgomery in 1995 and they resided in Kingman for the next 24 years. Sandy is survived by her husband Bob, 11 of her 12 step-children, 28 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and many friends.
