Shooter apprehended at his home

KINGMAN – A Kingman man who allegedly shot two people over a five-hour period was apprehended early Thursday. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) says the ordeal began at 9:39 p.m. Wednesday, when deputies responded to a shooting reported in the 2600 block of Potter Ave. in north Kingman.

MCSO spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said the suspect later identified as Jason Allen Campbell, 39, had fled the scene by the time deputies arrived and discovered an adult male with a gunshot to the chest. She said he was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center before he was flown to a Las Vegas hospital where he was last reported in critical condition.

Mortensen said detectives and deputies responded at 2:21 a.m. Thursday receiving information that Campbell was at a home in the 2200 block of Leroy Ave.

“Campbell was found to be threatening the two occupants of the residence,” Mortensen said. “Campbell fired at one of the victims, striking him in the arm.”

Campbell reportedly ran from the scene but was captured during a short foot pursuit. Mortensen Campbell still possessed the firearm, as well as a usable amount of methamphetamine.

Campbell was booked into the Adult Detention Center for attempted murder, aggravated assault and drug related charges. Mortensen said the second victim was in stable condition at Kingman Regional Medical Center.

An investigation continues.
