Sexual ‘predator’ gets 10 years

Joshua Allen

KINGMAN – A local judge accepted terms of a plea agreement Monday and imposed the 10-year prison sentence it dictated for a Kingman man who admitted engaging in sexual activity with two young girls from different communities.

Joshua Allen, 26, is convicted of two counts reduced to attempted sexual conduct with a minor. Six sexual conduct with a minor, child molestation and contributing to the delinquency of a minor charges are dismissed in the deal.

Deputy Mohave County Attorney Amanda Claerhout said Allen had sex with a 15-year-old Kingman girl between 2021 and 2022 and with another girl who was 11 or 12 years old at the time in Dolan Springs last Oct. Claerhout told Judge Billy Sipe that Allen was a manipulative predator.

“He told them (victims) that he loved them, that he was going to marry them,” Claerhout said.

Defense attorney Paul Amann’s position is that his client’s criminal behavior stemmed from poor judgment clouded by alcoholism.

“These crimes are completely out of character for him,” Amann said. Amann told Judge Sipe that Allen is remorseful, recognizes his alcohol addiction issues and is addressing them in a treatment program.

Judge Sipe also imposed the plea deal requirement that Allen serve lifetime probation upon release from prison. He is forever prohibited from drinking alcohol and must register for life as a sex offender.
