Security guard arrested after unauthorized shooting

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Lake Havasu City police made an arrest and continue investigating a shooting that injured no one over the weekend. The incident was reported at 12:50 p.m. on Oct. 12.

Sergeant Kyle Ridgway said officers dispatched to the 1500 block of Beachcomber Boulevard determined that an unauthorized Can-Am off-road vehicle was being driven on the track at that location.

“As security personnel attempted to flag down the vehicle to remove it from the track, the driver accelerated past the guard, narrowly missing him,” Ridgway said. “The security guard pursued the vehicle on foot and, in an effort to stop it before the police arrived, discharged a handgun at the vehicles tires as it fled the scene.”

Paul Woodly, 64, Lake Havasu City was arrested for disorderly conduct with a weapon and released on his own recognizance.

Ridgway said two males fled in the Can-Am. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Lake Havasu City police department or Silent Witness.
