Rosebird Farm CSA and Farm Stand Now Offers Double Up Food Bucks to Shoppers Who Purchase Fresh Fruits and Vegetables, Dried Beans, and Edible Plants with a SNAP EBT Card
KINGMAN – The CSA and Farm Stand operated by Rosebird Farms is now incentivizing shoppers to make healthy choices, as this Certified Naturally Grown family farm expands its participation in the Double Up Food Bucks Arizona program, following several years of offering a successful Community Supported Agriculture program.
According to Double Up Food Bucks Arizona, the timing could not be better for Rosebird Farms to add their CSA and farm store to the program. Enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP/EBT) food benefits has been steadily growing across Arizona since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, which proves many Arizonans need a hand up, now more than ever. This program helps shoppers using SNAP/EBT stretch their food budget and take home more fresh foods.
“Double Up is a win-win. Families bring home more fresh produce, and more food dollars stay with our local farmers. It has a ripple effect of benefits across the community,” said Kelley Villa, Farm to Fork Programs Manager of Pinnacle Prevention, the nonprofit organization brought Double Up Food Bucks to Arizona in 2016. “We’ve wanted to expand the program into Mohave County for years. We are thrilled to partner with Rosebird Farms to offer more fresh produce to SNAP/EBT customers in the Kingman area, just in time for the spring CSA and growing season.”
Double Up Food Bucks Arizona doubles SNAP/EBT benefits at participating locations.
At Rosebird Farms, customers will receive a half-price discount off each CSA share or farm stand purchase of fresh produce. When purchased with SNAP/EBT or P-EBT benefits, healthy foods eligible for this 50% off discount include fresh fruits and vegetables, food-producing plants, and dried beans, nuts, and seeds with no added ingredients.
“The Double Up Food Bucks program has helped us to further bridge the gap from local farmers to consumers so that we can bring more healthy food to our community. We are pleased to be able to offer beautiful, fresh, and affordable produce to those that are looking for it,” said Andrea McAdow, Rosebird Farms owner.
The Rosebird Farms CSA and Farm Stand is located at West of Third, 224 W Beale St, in downtown Kingman. Pick up for CSA shares are Thursdays 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., with pre-order available on the Rosebird website. The Farm Stand is restocked Thursday afternoons 3-6 as well as Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with additional limited availability Monday through Wednesday and Friday 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. They offer local seasonal produce from their Certified Naturally Grown farm as well as local farm partners. Grass fed beef, organic dairy, fresh bread, and Arizona made specialty foods are also available. Customers can sign up for the full spring season CSA until April 1, 2021.
Since its launch in Arizona in 2016, Double Up has grown to over 25 participating locations, including corner stores, farmers markets, farm stands, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) sites, and mobile markets. Funding for Double Up comes from the Arizona Department of Economic Security’s Nutrition Assistance Produce Incentive Program (NAPIP) and USDA’s Food Insecurity Nutrition Incentive Program (FINI/GusNIP).
