Dear Editor;
As D-Day once again approaches on June 6, may we still be reminded of the sacrifices of thousands of our servicemen in the landing there on the beaches of Normandy.
Their sacrifice ended ultimately in the liberation if Europe from the Nazis.
In this day and age when a new threat to NATO exists from Russia,
I speak with a deep heartfelt conviction in that even though I was only a toddler in 1944, I was to meet and appreciate General Dwight D.Eisenhower years later whenI cared for him as a young nurse.
His kind of expertise, foresight and bravery are qualities that appear to be sadly lacking in events in which we find ourselves today. I will never forget you, General, and will keep pressing for all you taught me to stand for.
