KINGMAN – Kingman police have released an image of a vehicle whose occupants might be able to provide information about a deadly shooting in downtown Kingman. Police confirm the surveillance video picture was taken in the area where Tim Prentice, 51, was shot and killed on Aug. 15.
Authorities determined that Prentice had been in an argument with Anthony Rodriguez, 25, Kingman, that ended up outside the Sportsmans Club in the 300 block of Kingman early that morning. Deputy Mohave County Attorney James Schoppmann said investigation revealed that Rodriguez allegedly fired the fatal round from the passenger seat of a vehicle that was positioned on the south side of Andy Devine Avenue, but north of the railroad tracks.
Police are trying to identify any of its occupants and the pickup truck shown in the image passing by the shooting scene in the 300 block of E. Andy Devine Avenue at about 1 a.m. It is hoped they might have witnessed something helpful in the ongoing investigation.
Rodriguez was arrested and jailed on a second-degree murder charge but was released when the county attorney’s office initially declined prosecution in a quest for more evidence.
The driver of the vehicle in question and any of its passengers, or anyone else knowing them or anything about the incident is urged to contact the Kingman Police Department (928-753-2191), Mohave Silent Witness (928-753-1234) or report tips electronically (kingmanpolice.com.)
