BULLHEAD CITY — Pamela Smith has been selected for appointment to the Bullhead City Council. The decision came during the July 8 special council meeting during which interviews were conducted as the Council considered the field of ten applicants.
The Council seat contenders included Smith, along with Beata Barry, Ellen Brown, Stephen Brown, Kenya Cobb, Bo Hellams, Scotty McClure, Jacqueline Miller, Kim Villalobos and Annette Wegmann-Wood.
Smith was selected in the first ballot nomination, drawing five votes with the other vote going to Hellams.
Smith has served on the city’s planning and zoning commission for five years and she has had a substantial and varied involvement in civic groups and republican party politics.
Smith said she’s committed to doing the best job she can as she serves out the 16 months remaining in the term. She said she’s not yet certain if she’ll run for Council in next year’s election cycle.
Smith fills the seat vacated when Mayor Steve D’Amico stepped down in early June for a new job as director of the Bullhead City Metropolitan Planning Organization.
Smith will be sworn in and seated during the July 15 Council meeting. That’s also when the council will select its Mayor and Vice Mayor.
