Noriega takes prison plea in DV case

Anthony Noriega

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu City man entered a mandatory prison plea agreement just 20 days after an argument with his wife and violence involving a child. Deputy Mohave County Attorney Aaron Smith said the incident occurred Aug. 2 at a residence in the 3400 block of Big Chief Drive.

Smith told the Court during an August 22 hearing that Anthony Noriega, 36 was engaged in a domestic altercation with his wife within the home when a 12-year-old boy interceded, jumping on Noriega’s back. Smith said Noriega used a shoulder shrug to launch the boy into some closet space that was damaged.

Smith told Judge Doug Camacho that Noriega pushed the boy to the ground as the disturbance spilled outside the residence. Judge Camacho approved the proposed plea agreement that convicts Noriega of child abuse.

Terms of the deal require the judge to impose a nine-month prison term at a Sept. 12 sentencing hearing.
