BULLHEAD CITY – Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC) would like to remind its members of potential scams, over the phone, online, mail, and in person at their home.
We have been notified of potential scams targeting our members and we would like to remind our members, MEC will never ask for payment or their social security number over the phone. MEC also does not disconnect after hours, on weekends, or MEC recognized holidays. Do not provide personal or bank information over the phone unless you are 100 percent sure you know who you’re talking to, even if the caller claims to be from MEC or caller ID states Mohave Electric Cooperative. If you aren’t sure, hang up the phone and call the business in question. Members may also call member service at (928) 763-1100 to verify their account status during normal business hours.
Additionally, when MEC representatives come to your neighborhood, they will be in vehicles marked with the Mohave Electric Cooperative logo and will carry MEC photo IDs. Contractor crews will have signs on their vehicles indicating that they are working for MEC and will also carry photo IDs and a letter from MEC stating that they are authorized to work as MEC’s contractor.
