Mohave County Coronavirus update

MOHAVE COUNTY – Kingman Regional Medical Center is implementing patient visitation restrictions to attempt to prevent any spread of the coronavirus among its patients or workforce. Chief Executive Officer Brian Turney said signs will be posted at the hospital and that voluntary compliance is requested this weekend before the restrictions will be more strictly enforced next week.

Turney said patient visitation will be restricted to family members and that visitation hours will also be limited.

Mohave County jail commander Don Bischoff said inmate visitation takes place through a video system and that restrictions are not yet necessary because of segregation from the general public. Bischoff said jail staff is keeping inmates informed of what’s going on as the nation deals with the pandemic and that some extra cleaning and sanitation activity has been taking place at the facility.

The City of Kingman Parks and Recreation Department has canceled all group events and is postponing recreation leagues, dance classes and all department-sponsored group events. The Cerbat Cliffs golf courses and other public green belts remain open where citizens can easily maintain safe distances from one another.

Parks and Recreation Director Dave Heath said Bullhead City has not yet closed facilities or programs. Outside organizations have done so, however. Heath noted the American Youth Soccer Organization canceled a 50-team tournament that had been scheduled this weekend.
