Mohave Community College Soccer slates ID Camps for 2024

Mohave Community College Soccer has scheduled three ID Camps at which participants can hone and display their skills as Athletic Director and Men’s Head Coach Camilo Valencia seeks players who have what it takes to compete at the collegiate level.

Coach Valencia says ID Camps are designed to identify, evaluate and prepare players seeking to compete at the collegiate level. Camps provide technical and tactical training sessions, along with small-sided and full-field games. Additionally, the upcoming camps will include goalkeeper-specific training to all interested players. Anyone of high school age or older is encouraged to attend the camps.

“ID camps are great for attendees because they can see and feel what the coaching staffs at Mohave Community college are like, and how a training session will look next fall,” Coach Valencia says. “They can ask questions and learn about our programs. This is their opportunity to also evaluate and decide if this is the place they want to be. College athletics is about finding the right fit to be successful on and off the field.”

The Girls ID Camp is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 9. The registration fee includes field sessions, a Q&A session with coaches and a camp t-shirt. Early bird pricing ends Jan. 31.

The first Boys ID Camp is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 6. The registration fee includes field sessions, a Q&A session with coaches and a camp t-shirt. Early bird pricing ends Feb. 29.

The Boys Summer ID Camp is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 29. The registration fee includes field sessions, a Q&A session with coaches and a camp t-shirt. Early bird pricing ends May 15.

“We will evaluate players on their technique, athleticism and tactical knowledge of the game,” Coach Valencia says. “We will do this by challenging them in different situations that are intense and realistic to the game, both individually and as a group.”

Coach Valencia says the Mohave coaching staffs were very impressed by the talent they saw at camps held in 2023. In fact, both the men’s and women’s programs signed players who attended those camps. The camps have also helped the coaching staffs identify younger players whose development they follow throughout the year.

“We are coming into it with an open mind, knowing that we can find the next Bighorns for this fall or learn about someone who can be an impact player for us in 2026 or 2027,” says Coach Valencia. “We just hope it’s a good turnout and that players enjoy the sessions, and learn more about our school and the soccer programs.”

Space is limited for all three camps. For more information or to register, go to mohavesoccercamps.com.
