Mohave Community College Soccer slates Boys ID Camp for March 22

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College Men’s Soccer is gearing up for another ID Camp at which participants can hone and display their skills, all while getting a taste of what it takes to compete at the collegiate level. The upcoming Boys ID Camp is slated for Saturday, March 22, with this year’s camp taking place at Firebird Field, the Home of the Bighorns!

Men’s Head Coach and Athletic Director Camilo Valencia says such camps are designed to give attendees exposure to Bighorn training methods, as well as for them to gain experience and understanding in working with a collegiate program.

“If you’re a serious soccer player, you should attend this camp to see what you need to do to take your game to the next level and take the next step,” Valencia says.

The camp is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 22, and is for boys from ninth grade to college senior. The first session runs from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. before breaking for lunch until 2 p.m., with the second session running from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Valencia says attendees will be challenged in addition to getting to know the coaches and meet some current Bighorns. That will also give them the opportunity to ask questions of coaches and players, as well as see collegiate-level skill in action. Plus, the Bighorn coaching staff utilizes these camps in its recruiting efforts.

Mohave Community College Men’s Soccer currently has eight players on the roster who have attended past camps, with two more signed who attended last year’s camp.

“Our ID Camps are a vital part of our recruitment process because we get to see players up close, talk to them and their families, and understand if that player is the right fit for us,” Valencia says. “We have big expectations for this camp. Our first year saw mostly local attendees, while our second year saw attendees from different communities, even as far as Tucson. We expect to have some more interesting prospects attend, and we’re very excited for March.”

Another change to the upcoming camp is that it will be held at Bullhead City’s Firebird Field in Rotary Park, also known as the Home of the Bighorns.

“Attendees will have the chance to play at Firebird and train outdoors,” Valencia says. “There’s no better field in the conference than Firebird, and it’s quite a privilege to be able to step onto that field. Our surface gives a real feel instead of turf, and you get experience playing in the elements with the heat and wind. Performing well there will go to show that you can make it as part of our team.”

This will be the only Boys ID Camp for 2025, so make sure to register today! Brayan Lino, sophomore forward for the Bighorns, is a past attendee himself and recommends the camp for those wanting to take their game to the next level.

“The camp helped me a lot, giving me an idea for how the game is played at the college level,” Lino says. “It also helped give me an idea of the style and speed of play. I really recommend attending because it just shows you the differences in the game at the next level.”
