LAKE HAVASU CITY – Since 2007, the Milemarkers team has made a lasting impact with the services they provide for children and adults with disabilities. On Thursday, February 1, the proud owners celebrated the grand opening for their new location in Lake Havasu. Their event kicked off with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the assistance of Chamber of Commerce members, Cassie O’Hara and Theresa Crowell. From 6:30 to 8 p.m., the company provided tours and information about their organization. The new location will be 5601 Hwy. 95, Suite C-308 at the Shops of Lake Havasu mall.
When Milemarkers owners Catie Sondrol and Colleen McShea’s paths crossed, fate began to work its magic. Sondrol was working as an occupational therapist while McShea was a speech a pathologist. Their career fields collided on their way to evaluate a child during a six-hour car ride. Together, the two began to brainstorm about pediatric therapy services that would be a one stop shop in Mohave County. They agreed to team up and began providing assistance to children in their homes. Their dedication spoke volumes, as both women still worked full time jobs. The year after, Milemarkers dream became a reality, and the facility was packed with a variety of services beneficial to all children with disabilities.
Back then, their business consisted of only 75 employees. Currently, the staff has grown to a 130 compassionate workers. Milemarkers offers after school programs, occupational therapy, music therapy, and even an adult day program for those with disabilities ages 18 and older. Today, Milemarkers have expanded and currently have two additional locations in Bullhead City and Kingman. The business owners made their move to a bigger and better space, so that they can provide more care and activities to their existing and new clients. Both McShea and Sondrol shared beaming smiles of excitement knowing that their 16 years of determination has now reached new heights.
“We love knowing that we are here to serve the children and families of this community,” said McShea.
