BULLHEAD CITY – The Mohave Community College, Bullhead City campus has named the winners of the Fifth Annual MCC Flash Film Festival. Taking the overall “Best in Show” award was “House Finders” which was produced by Madz Walker. His film placed first in the Comedy category as well.  He is one of two students enrolled at MCC, Bullhead who won prizes in the competition. The other is Brandon Patterson.  His entry took the runner up place in the Horror submissions.  Both students are taking physics and art curriculums at MCC.

Other prize recipients are Bryant Booze whose production of “The Visit” placed first in the Horror group.  Booze is a community member along with Adam Geller who placed at the top of the Documentary Category with a splendid piece titled, “Kingman: Past, Present, and Future.”

Erin Roper is the MCC, Kingman librarian. She gained second place prize money for her Documentary Category entry titled, “ASK”.

The MCC, Bullhead City arts department puts on the competition under the direction of Joe Ketchum. The films are limited to individual or group creativity and must be less than five minutes in length. Information about the up-coming event is put out at the beginning of the MCC fall semester.  Entries are open to anyone in Mohave County, whether associated with

MCC or not.

This was the fifth year for the film festival. The deadline was during the week of March 17, however because of the number of films that get submitted, Ketchum says the deadline may need to be moved up to an earlier date. This years’ festival was judged by as many as ten

people, not only from MCC, but alumni and the community at large.

The awards were handed out in the MCC, Bullhead auditorium. The overall winner took home $500 while category winners got $50 and runners-up were awarded $25. For information to be involved in next years’ Flash Film Festival, contact the MCC, Bullhead arts

department.
