MCC brings back Bighorn Trek event to Kingman Campus

MCC’s Kingman Campus is hosting its third annual Bighorn Trek event for high school students, community members, MCC students and community partners. The event will showcase MCC programs and resources, community resource partners, higher education transfer partners and workforce agencies.

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College is hosting its third annual Bighorn Trek event for high school students, community members, MCC students and community partners. The event is from 9 AM-1 PM, Wednesday, Oct. 16, on the MCC Kingman Campus, 1971 E. Jagerson Ave. The event is free to attend.

The event will showcase MCC programs and resources, community resource partners, higher education transfer partners and workforce agencies. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with college instructors and local businesses to learn about the skills needed for success. ARIZONA@WORK and WAVE/JTED will also be at the event to help answer any questions.

“Bighorn Trek on the Kingman Campus gives people a fun and low-stress chance to learn about possible careers in our region and the pathways available at the College to pursue them,” said Shawn Bristle, Dean of Student and Community Engagement-Kingman Campus.

Attendees have the opportunity to walk through the campus while interacting with faculty and employers in the community. MCC student organizations will also be present to talk about student life at MCC and how college is much more than just going to class. There will also be food trucks and music.

“Bighorn Trek is designed to give people an opportunity to speak to a very broad group of people who can help them understand the scope of life options available and get them on a pathway to a future of their choosing. It’s also an opportunity to just hang out in a festive college environment and socialize with cool folks.  Whether you are age 14, 40 or 64, Bighorn Trek has something to offer you,” Bristle said.
