Masks required in Lake Havasu City

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Arizona is experiencing a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases throughout the state. Within Mohave County and Lake Havasu City, we are experiencing a growing community spread that increases risk to the well-being of citizens and poses potential strains on the healthcare facilities and workers in our community.

Due to the influx of visitors this holiday weekend and concern from residents, Mayor Cal Sheehy issued a proclamation requiring residents and visitors to wear a face covering over their nose and mouth, whenever they are patrons of businesses within Lake Havasu City. The City asks that residents do notcall 911 to report non-compliance; save 911 calls for medical emergencies.

The proclamation goes into effect on Friday, July 3, and lasts until at least July 27. It requires every person in Lake Havasu City, ages six and over to cover their nose and mouth whenever they enter places of business that serve the public.

Mayor Sheehy explained this important step. “The health and safety of our residents is my primary concern. I thank all of our residents who responded to our educational efforts over the last few weeks. This action is needed now in response to the influx of visitors and the rise in cases.”

  1. I’m at the stores and people are walking around with out masks and most of them were Californians, this is a waste of time if we’re not going to in force it, there needs to be fines or no one is going to wear them

  3. Try limiting the influx of visitors to Havasu, especially all the mass influx of people from across the river. It’s been a madhouse since about late April when it got warm here.
