Dear Editor,
My friends and neighbors, we have all heard the phrase, “we are in the fight for the soul of America,” But what exactly does that mean? What is the soul of America and why is there a fight over it?
For well over 200 years the Republican party platform has included God in every nationwide platform up until the 21st century when demands from Log Cabin Republicans (Gay Republican group) quieted the God talk down to a murmur.
During the 2024 RNC and I was surprised at how strongly God has returned to the Republican platform. I was delighted that there were more than a dozen speakers that mentioned the blessings of God that he had bestowed upon our land. I was moved by the many prayers that were offered by the Pastors and Reverends who spoke during the RNC.
So, in the battle for the soul of America, who are the warriors fighting this battle on the front lines? There is a great divide when Americans describe what being free in America means.
On one side you have those who are trying to eliminate the WOKE agenda which includes DEI (choosing the person for the job, who does not have to meet the academic requirements of the job, they just have to be a minority) which is a disaster in the making as already evidenced by the DEI back peddling in progress by many major corporations, because it is a failed policy.
We also have a battle over the innocence of our children. On one side we have parental control and on the opposite side, the government wants full authority over your child’s gender. Normalizing what is clearly described as sin in the bible by first offering to change a child’s gender without consent from parents and insisting that such policy is the right thing for our children is Godless.
Parents rights stand squarely in the middle of that argument, so the Conservatives are battling it out for parents’ rights to be restored. Parents need to have the power to raise their children without the government’s involvement. So, Christians are fighting to keep the government policies out of our families and away from our businesses.
The more progressive side of this battle seeks to regulate the people and their voices, they have governed with fear. They seek to create as many as 100 gender identities. In June 2024 I was getting my hair cut at Sport Clips, while discussing what God has to say about homosexuality and I was chastised and condemned by candidate Marsh and his family for citing Leviticus from the Old Testament, which deals specifically with the issue of multiple genders and homosexuality and warns us all of the consequences (already beginning) if we insist committing an abomination before the Lord God.
Attempts were immediately implemented by my wife’s opponent Logan Marsh to censor my speech. As a matter of fact, she was told to put a muzzle on me, and then they would stop. This is why the war for the soul of America goes on, citing bible passages is now considered bigotry by the progressives. That is a perfect example of why a more progressive candidate is wrong for Mohave County.
Since when does this community cancel and admonish successful businessmen who have been contributing to this community for four decades? I was fighting to protect our water long before it ever became an issue, I am not even a rancher. I served on the Northern Arizona Watershed Council during the 1990s while Elno Roundy served as chairman. I risked being arrested at a board meeting during approval of the Griffith water contract because the research I completed was embarrassing the Board of Supervisors and supported the facts that a merchant power plant using 5,000 gallons per minute was not in the best interests of the residents of Golden Valley. Griffith is now drawing from 5 high output wells located in the Griffith Industrial Park south of Kingman.
Fortunately, thank God former Supervisor Carol Anderson read the entire report into the record, saving me an evening in the pokey. A few years later Supervisor Johnson offered some revisions to that contract which had been originally written to the advantage of the Griffith tenants. My wife and I are dedicated to the Lord, and we not only care for the residents of our country and county, but we also actually work for the residents. For free.
My friends, we are looking at a war for our nation’s soul. The residents will speak to this on primary day. Do we want God to hold the soul of our nation? Does it belong to God? Or shall we carry on without God? I am a member of our community that is here to stand on the front lines.
As Candidate Marsh has said, he believes the Bible is divisive. I believe the bible unifies the righteous and yes, it divides the righteous from the unrighteous. We are making America great again. What side of history will you be on?
