Man shot by deputy identified

MOHAVE VALLEY – Authorities have identified the man who was shot by a Mohave County sheriff’s deputy in Mohave Valley. Deputies responded to a report of a knife brandishing suicidal subject when they spotted Richard Crist, 67, Mohave Valley, in the front yard of a home in the 8200 block of Green Valley Road South on February 8.

Crist was shot by a deputy after the deputy believed he had pointed a handgun at him. Crist sustained life threatening injuries and was last reported in stable condition at a Las Vegas hospital.

The incident is being investigated by the Lake Havasu City police department. Investigation conducted by outside, independent agencies is standard protocol in officer-involved shootings.
