Local church opens 22,000 sq. ft. Community Center

KINGMAN – The slow crawl out of the pandemic has halted more than a few projects in the community and the last year’s social distancing has people ready to get out and begin to mingle. Collage Park Baptist Church, being amongst the group of projects, finally opened the doors to its brand new community Center.

A 22,000 square foot gymnasium topped with an entire floor of classrooms and conference centers as well as a full commercial kitchen and prep kitchen. The building sports a gymnasium and stage. With its modern sound system and soon-to-be stage lights in place, the College Park Baptist hopes to hold concerts and other performing arts. The full basketball and volleyball court can be rented out to hold sporting events and conventions. Upstares there are three classrooms, conference rooms, and a prep kitchen.

The building itself was built mainly using volunteer labor. And some contracted portions taking place in the latter part of the construction. Collage Park Baptist spent the better part of six years working toward realizing its dream of having a place for the entire community to gather and utilize. Construction began in 2013 and wrapped up with the certification of the building for occupancy in late 2019. The building remained largely unutilized during the 2019 COVID pandemic, with the community center finally coming to fruition in 2021.

Russ Jungquist, Facility manager and lead Deacon explained that the community center has begun to be used. Two different dance companies have used the gymnasium, a few weddings, and the special olympics basketball team practices on the court on tuesday nights. The Republican Women of Kingman also utilize the building’s conference room.” Jungquist also explained that later this year College Park Baptist would begin a program for kids called “Kingman Kids,” aimed at education for grades K-5. The program uses a method called Kaliziask learning. The method encompeses sight, hearing, and movement utilizing games, music and classroom learning.

College Park Baptist church will use the facility for its community programs and worship services but would also like to extend to the community the offer of renting its facilities for any number of sports, shows, and events. If you are interested in programs offered by the Church or to use its classrooms, conference rooms or gymnasium.
