Kiwanis charity bowling tournament returns

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Kiwanis Club of Lake Havasu’s charity bowling tournament will be making a comeback this month dressed as characters that you might recognize. The powerful nonprofit hosts over 1.3 million service projects annually and raises over $390 million for families and children worldwide.

The Kiwanis team assists with restocking libraries, building playgrounds, providing school supplies for backpacks, and much more. This month will be the third annual themed bowling tournament.

Last year, the organization brought on the fun with their eye patch themed tournament, but this year’s theme of vintage cartoon characters will have members dressed as familiar cartoon characters of the past.

The event includes three rounds of bowling, lunch, 50/50 raffle drawing, games, and a $25 win for best cartoon character costume. The team that earns first place will win $300 and the team that places second will win $180.

Ticket purchases for players are $45 per person. Donations for the fundraiser can be done by calling Lisa T. at 928-733-0876 or Stephanie L. at 951-707-8926. Entry fee deadline is Wednesday, July 17, or until they have 32 players.

Entry fees can be sent to P.O. Box 572, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405. The Vintage Cartoon Bowling Tournament will be on Saturday, July 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Havasu Lanes and Keglers Pub. Proceeds of the event will go towards Kiwanis programs and activities like filling Easter egg baskets, toys for tots, scholarships, and the club’s ongoing pursuits to serve children of the world.
