Kingman unveils new ambulance for critical emergency transport

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman is excited to introduce a new ambulance to the Kingman Fire Department, designed specifically to address critical patient transport needs. The state-of-the-art vehicle was officially unveiled during the City Council’s first meeting of 2025 by Fire Chief Jack Yeager. Following a brief presentation highlighting the ambulance’s capabilities and the critical need it fulfills, Chief Yeager invited Council members and the public to tour the new emergency vehicle.  This new vehicle ensures that the City can provide the immediate transport required in life-or-death situations.

The ambulance was ordered in August of last year and delivered just a month later, thanks to the decision to purchase a demonstration model. This choice not only bypassed the typical two-year wait for a custom-built unit but also saved the city $125,000. The total cost, including taxes, essential equipment, radios, and department-specific branding, came to $296,000—significantly less than the usual price of a new ambulance.

To ensure the ambulance meets state and departmental standards, the Kingman Fire Department worked closely with the Arizona Department of Health Services to establish comprehensive policies and procedures. The ambulance will be used to transport patients experiencing major traumas, cardiac arrests, or other critical medical emergencies in accordance with state guidelines. Additionally, EMS staff have undergone specialized training to operate and maintain the vehicle, ensuring it is ready for immediate deployment.

“This ambulance represents our dedication to the health and safety of Kingman residents,” said Chief Yeager. “It’s a resource that will enhance our ability to respond swiftly and effectively, particularly when minutes make all the difference in patient outcomes.”

Effective immediately, the new ambulance is operational and available for emergency response. It will be housed at Fire Station #2 when not in use.
