Kingman City Council testing new session format

City Manager Ron Foggin has unveiled a new format for the work sessions and regular business meetings that the Kingman City Council conducts every other Tuesday on most occasions. Public confusion about start times and which matters are handled in either forum and the marathon length of the back-to-back meetings prompted discussion of reform.

The council has been starting work sessions at 5:30 p.m., followed by the start of the regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. Foggin said he considered the mix of issues and concerns in developing a new model.

“I’d like to start this with our first meeting in May and that is we’d cut the work session down to about 55 minutes, start the work session at five o’clock and start our business meeting at six o’clock. That seems to be the middle ground of all the discussion,” Foggin said. “We will evaluate after a couple of months. If it’s working, great. If not, we’ll come back and have another conversation.”
