BULLHEAD CITY – Three Bullhead City School District (BCSD) elementary schools will enroll and register new kindergarten students over two days this month for the fall semester. The annual Kindergarten Registration is for new students who will turn five years old on or before August 31, 2025.

Kindergarten Registration will be held at Desert Valley, Diamondback and Sunrise Elementary Schools on March 26 and March 27 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Each campus individualizes its Kindergarten Registration program. Students will be screened to determine the best classroom placement for them. The district encourages families to start the school registration process early and not wait until the last minute.

Parents and guardians should bring a child’s birth certificate, immunization records, proof of home address within the district (such as current utility bills), parent or guardian ID and any applicable legal paperwork. Jennifer Lott, BCSD’s director of educational services, said that the three schools make the evening fun and engaging for the district’s new kindergartners. Many of those students are transitioning from BCSD’s preschool program.

Over the years, the Bullhead City chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star has prepared hundreds of special “goodie bags” for each new kindergarten registrant. The donated basic supplies for five year olds starting school include paper, pencils, erasers, crayons, kid-friendly rounded scissors, rulers and tissues.

“It is always an opportunity for parents to find out what a child should know before starting kindergarten, and what school changes have occurred since older children in a family may have gone through previous registrations for kindergarten,” noted Lott.

“People often ask about the August 31 birthday cutoff,” she added. “That deadline is set by the State of Arizona, not individual school districts.”

As previously announced, the fall semester for the 2025-2026 BCSD school year starts July 28 for students in grades Pre-K through eight, following a two-month summer break. Back to school nights at all campuses will be scheduled the previous week.

Additional information about Kindergarten Registration is available at each of the three Bullhead City elementary campuses, or at the District office, 928-758-3961. Updates will be posted on the District’s Facebook page, @bcsd15 / https://www.facebook.com/BCSD15/. A full list of approved proof of home address documentation is available at the District office.
