CHLORIDE – Horrific details of a double murder are provided through a Golden Valley man’s confession that he killed his grandmother and her partner at their Chloride home at 8182 N Palo Verde Drive. The bloodied bodies of Bryan Dean Drake, 57, and Robin Rae Hammontree, 61, were found on the floor of the southeast bedroom of the residence after 8:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28.
Following his Wednesday night arrest Dustyn Wade Walsh, 19, told detectives he confronted Drake because Drake had raped his sister. Drake was acquitted of a slew of child molestation and other sex offense charges when his trial ended in August last year.
A Justice Court probable cause statement said Walsh indicated Drake possessed a weapon and that “things got out of hand” and that he shot Drake six times for fear he’d be shot first.
“Dustyn advised that he had put his grandmother Robin in a choke hold and held it until she slowly ‘went to sleep’”, court records stated. Walsh told detectives he then used a knife to slit her throat several times to make certain she was dead.
Walsh said he used a meat cleaver to chop off his grandmother’s hands because he was concerned his DNA might be under her fingernails due to her struggle for life. Walsh said he burned the meat cleaver, disposed of the knife and deposited the hands in the desert “to feed the coyotes.”
The probable cause affidavit revealed that Walsh, Johnny Ford Parsons, 20, and Tyler Susanne Reed, 19, were arrested early Wednesday evening after a traffic stop in Golden Valley. Parsons told detectives he watched Walsh commit the murders.
Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said the house was ransacked and property, including a vehicle that was later recovered, had been stolen. “All three subjects admitted their involvement in this incident,” Mortensen said.
Case investigation began after Nick Brady informed the sheriff’s office that he discovered the homicide scene Monday night when performing a welfare check. Brady told detectives he purchased pot from the victims and went to check on them when they had not responded to telephone calls.
Each of the arrested suspects was charged by the sheriff’s office with two counts of first-degree murder and Parsons and Reed face burglary and hindering prosecution charges as well. Court records indicated at least three other people had knowledge of the homicides but failed to notify authorities.
Authorities indicated that continuing investigation and case review by the county attorney’s office may result in additional arrests and possible changes in the original charges.

If the guy molested/raped these people and the grandmother knew it, good riddance to both. Can any of you image the trauma this will have on them for the rest of their lives, and in killing those two perverts to? Sorry to see them being punished more.
