It’s the economy, stupid

Dear Editor,

The long time potential strategist James Carville has always said “It’s the economy stupid” and I get it. But this time around, he had added when he said “Something is bigger and more threatening than the economy, and that’s Project 2025 … They don’t put together a 900 page playbook and not plan to use it.” A manifesto that will take away freedom and protection like we’ve never seen in our lifetime.

Although we’ve been recovering from a worldwide pandemic faster than all other countries including Europe, but it wasn’t fast enough for most and then Biden and his party had to go. I only hope we can continue to recover, and at the faster rate Americans want when they voted or Trump, even though Elon Musk who takes phone calls with Trump and Putin said “What we plan to do won’t be easy for most, but eventually it will be better in the long run.” Just that alone is concerning if true.

We’ve put the chance of threatening our democracy in the back seat and Trump in the driver’s seat with his foot on the peddle on day one with some pretty big promises, good and bad. But then, often we don’t know what is true or not that comes out of the Trump camp. Trump threatened there would be a blood bath if he didn’t win and dodged that bullet, but not the one when he said those who oppose him and do not support him and are not with him are evil and demonic. His supporters heard him loud and clear when one wrote to The Standard Newspaper claiming Trump’s opposing party is “demonic”. Seriously? Demonic? Donald is crude and vulgar and promotes bigotry and misogyny and violence, but demonic is a strong word to accuse anyone of.

Maybe those who didn’t vote for Trump took him for his word when he said he wanted to imprison his political opponents and watch them be shot in the face in front of a firing squad, quote-unquote. But then, this lines up with then he said he’ll be a dictator on day one. Whether Trump meant it or not, he said it, and that’s all some of us needed to know he is not fit to be president. When he said, if he’s president we’ll never have to vote again, for many of us it was a warning of what was to come. It is our constitutional duty and right to vote.

Does he want or plan to take that away? I know the economy has and will always be the priority with every presidential election, but this time, something is at stake; We might lose more than what we’re willing to give up. But for now, only time will tell.

  1. J.M., Your Letter to the Editor is full of falsifications! By listening to mainstream media only, you were sold on the lies and misquotes they pushed about Trump.

He NEVER said there would be a bloodbath if he didn’t win; instead, he was talking about the car industry and China’s push of cars from Mexico to the U.S. He NEVER said he would adopt Project 2025; he was not even involved in penning any of it. He NEVER said he wanted his political enemies in front of a firing squad! He was discussing Liz Cheney in particular and her desire for war. He was making a point that if she or any of her children had to participate in any wars of which she approved, she may think twice about approving any war! I would like you to actually find the so-called quote that says he wants to put anyone in front of the firing squad!

I admit that President Trump can be crude and vulgar. However, he is not part of the establishment, and that makes RINOs and Democrats run scared. Just look at what he’s trying to accomplish with Ramaswamy and Musk. The Department of Government Efficiency is looking to ‘trim the fat’ of government agencies. How many are lining their own pockets right now? How much of our tax money is going towards illogical, or in some cases, corrupt programs? in 2011, CBS News wrote an article on this exact topic, with examples of $120 million in retirement and disability benefits paid to dead federal employees, and $7765,828 to build an IHOP in an ‘underserved’ area, which turned out to be a ‘toney’ area of Washington D.C.!

When he said he would be a dictator on day 1, he was taking a page out of Biden’s book. Biden, with the backing of Harris, signed several executive orders the first WEEK, many of which reversed Trump’s policies which were helping the US! Biden added executive orders allowing our borders to be overrun! Did you know that many border patrol agents threatened to quit if Harris won? They are over having their hands tied when it comes to illegals!

The ‘Trump Camp’ as you called it, has made their voices heard. Winning by both electoral college & popular votes, those who voted for Trump have had enough of the lies and the America Last policies. President Trump had a good economic record until Covid hit. And even after the first couple months, he had it going in the right direction once again, despite Dr. Fauci’s recommendations. All it takes is a little research to find that out. It is unfair to lump the Covid economy in with the positive impact he made before that.

We are confident President Trump will work for Americans and America! You are correct–something is at stake–our country and our identity! Biden and Harris showed us that illegal immigrants got top priority. The majority of voters understood that. In the future, we can only hope that the media will quit twisting Trump’s words and report the truth. (Did you know that 90% of the media is owned by 6 liberal corporations?)
