LAKE HAVASU CITY – Havasu 95 Speedway and Christian Rods and Customs Car Club will be continuing their season together with their Gathering Car Show and Swap meet.
Havasu 95 Speedway was built by the Havasu Off Road Association. What started out as a clay oval, took almost seven years to build. In 1989, they opened their first full season. Only to close their gates when the clay ran out. By 1996, they had reopened then closed it again in 2000.
Five years later, Havasu Speedway Promoter Bill Rozhon got together with friends to write letters to city council to reopen the gates. Rozhon was a former racer himself back in the 70s and 80s.
Eventually, the city council approved their request. The track did not have fences or crash walls and took a year to complete.
With the help of local businesses, family, racers, and friends, their full season began in 2006. Havasu 95 Speedway is one of only three working paved ovals in Arizona.
The family-owned business has Rozhon and wife Elaine, managing races and bookkeeping while the Rozhon children take care of sales and marketing. The grandchildren help too, with the website, graphic design, and driver registration.
Havasu 95 Speedway also has many volunteers who have supported them since the beginning. This month, Havasu 95 Speedway kicked off their Gathering Car Show and Swap Meet.
Christian Rods and Customs Car provides the cars while Havasu 95 Speedway provides the swap meet. Christian Rods and Customs Car Club is a nonprofit organization that gives lovers of custom cars a purpose.
The organization works with regional chapters in the U.S., Australia, and Canada. Their regional ministries are also geared toward classic car enthusiasts.
Havasu 95 Speedway’s next gathering car show and swap meet will be on Saturday, November 4 at the Havasu 95 Speedway inside SARA Park from 8 a.m. to noon. It’s $5 to enter a vehicle and $15 to participate in the swap meet.
The event is free to spectators and car and swap meet payments help local benefit families in need of assistance. If you’ve missed a few of them already, there’s still time.
