Havasu couple arrested in cocaine seizure

LAKE HAVASU — An investigation of cocaine sales in Lake Havasu City has resulted in significant seizure and the arrest of a local married couple.

Police lieutenant Frank Hayden said officers effected a July 9 traffic stop just after 9:00 p.m. in the vicinity of Lake Havasu Avenue North and Mesquite Avenue.

Hayden said K-9 Echo was deployed for an open-air sniff of the vehicle as an officer spoke with its driver. “Echo alerted on the odor of narcotic drugs,” he said.

A search of the vehicle reportedly netted confiscation of approximately two ounces of cocaine, prompting a subsequent search of a residence in the 3000 block of Bosun Lane.

“Approximately 1 kilogram of cocaine, 54 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 450 Adderall pills, 13 fentanyl pills, and two and a half pounds of marijuana, along with two rifles, three handguns and $750 in cash were recovered,” Hayden said.

Arrested suspects are identified as Ted Joines, 37, and Leslie Joines, 31. They’re both charged with drug and weapons offenses.
