LAKE HAVASU CITY – Fall is now in full motion and just the perfect time to cozy up with classic musical films at Lake Havasu’s Sunday Musical Matinee Series. The movie series kicked off with a showing of the famous 1982 musical Annie on Sunday, October 3 at 5:30 p.m. at London Bridge Beach.
Annie tells the story of a little girl raised in an orphanage and the ill-tempered woman in charge of the orphans. Annie’s cheerful positive outlook on the world gets her placed in the home of a wealthy and eccentric millionaire.
With memorable tunes like, I Think I’m Going to Like it Here, It’s the Hard Knock Life, and Tomorrow, the film has all the needed elements that could put a smile on anyone’s face. But in case you missed the season’s debut movie, there is still time to see other excellent musicals, and it’s quite the lineup!
Next Sunday, audiences will be enchanted to see The Wizard of Oz on the big screen. A story of a young Dorothy Gale along with her dog Toto, who are whisked away by a tornado into the magical mysterious land of Oz.
You can reminisce and sing along to the movie’s favorite tunes like, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Follow the Yellow Brick Road, and many more. Next up is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
The tale is about a little boy named Charlie, who is eager to find one of the coveted golden tickets that will take him to the exquisitely delicious Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory. With songs like the Candy Man, Pure Imagination, and I Want it Now, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory remains a family holiday favorite during the holiday season.
The finale movie of the film series will fill you up with seasonal joy with a showing of White Christmas. Starring Hollywood Legends like Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, and Rosemary Clooney, it’s an invigorating film about a talented song and dance duo who fall in love with a sister act all for the sake of saving the Vermont Inn from a previous commanding general. Viewers will be intrigued by historic songs like, What Can You do with a General, Counting Your Blessings, and White Christmas. These vintage movie hits will be shown each Sunday until December 1.
