Fire started because suspect was bored

BULLHEAD CITY – On Friday, May 22 at about 1 a.m., police and fire crews were called to a small fire in the dirt area next to the Family Dollar Store on Commercial Way. The responding officer deployed a fire extinguisher on the flames until Bullhead City firefighters arrived on scene to completely put out the fire. A witness reported seeing a man ignite the bushes on fire and then walk away.

The description of the male suspect matched Tyler Michael Ziilch, 39, who was being arrested nearby at Circle K on Marina Boulevard for criminal trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ziilch had previously been trespassed from the location and had a marijuana pipe in his backpack.

Ziilch told officers that he lit the bushes on fire because he was “bored.” He was additionally charged with reckless burning and booked into the Mohave County Jail in Kingman.
