Felix pleads guilty in fentanyl case

KINGMAN – Judge Billy Sipe has significant punishment discretion when he sentences a Lake Havasu City woman busted for illegal drugs during a summertime traffic stop. A vehicle operated by Malinda Felix, 46, was pulled over in the 1000 block of Acoma Blvd. S at 4:47 a.m. on Aug. 15.

Deputy Mohave County Rod Albright told the Court that a police K-9 alerted on the vehicle, resulting in a search. He said approximately 460 fentanyl-laced pills were found in Felix’s purse.

Felix pleaded guilty to a charge reduced to attempted transportation of narcotic drugs for sale. Albright said that many pills is consistent with sales activity, rather than possession for personal use.

Felix faces as little as probation, or up to 30 months in prison. Sentencing is scheduled Nov. 15.
