Drive-in movie event brings nostalgia

LAKE HAVASU CITY – If you find yourself missing the good ol’ days of what it felt like to attend a drive-in movie, next weekend will be your chance to experience those nostalgic feelings all over again.

Brought to you by party rental store Cool River Party Rentals, the company will be showing the ultimate film that honors a time when drive-in movie theaters were all the rage with their showing of American Graffiti.

It has been over 50 years since Star Wars Producer George Lucas publicly released American Graffiti, the film that follows high schoolers of the early 1960’s last night of freedom before high school graduation. Starring some of Hollywood’s most well-known movie legends like Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, and Wolfman Jack, it took the film some years to gain the heightened popularity it is known for today.

Thanks to box office and home video sales, the coming-of-age tale earned more than two hundred million in the 1990s. Just in November of last year, the movie was released on Ultra D Blu-ray which preserved the film’s color and sound in order to keep the magic of the movie alive for future generations to enjoy.

Next Saturday, the film will have another opportunity to enter new hearts and give previous viewers a chance to relive the story on the big screen. There are no pre-sale tickets available for this event.

Tickets are $20 per person and are available at the gate with cash only. Concessions will be available onsite for movie goers however, attendees are also welcome to bring their own food and beverages.

This blast from the past event wouldn’t be complete without seeing a few first-class vehicles. The Havasu Classics Car Club will be in attendance showing off the many vintage cars of their collections.

The Drive-in Movie event of the 1973 classic American Graffiti, will be taking place on Saturday, October 12  from 5 to 10 p.m. in the parking lot of Dillard’s Department Store. It will be a time to kick back, relax, and enjoy a ride back into time.
