Dorner continues career as KUSD Superintendent

Gretchen Dorner continues her near 30-year career with her hometown school system at its highest level. Dorner brings a foundation of varied teaching and administrative experience to her new job as Superintendent of the Kingman Unified School District (KUSD).

“I am so excited. I would never have imagined in the early 90’s when I started my career with, at that time, the Kingman Elementary School District, that I would eventually end up in this position,” said Dorner, noting that she’s also quite comfortable with the transition. “It just sort of naturally led this way. And now I get to be part of the entire unified system and not just a portion of it. That’s what I’m excited about. I love all of our schools. I love all of our kids and I get to work with all of them.”

Dorner succeeds Roger Jacks, the newly retired former superintendent. Dorner credited Jacks for successfully guiding the school district through the challenges of the recession, and for making improvements as the economy has recovered.
