Dawn Michelle Arnold Kaufman, 40, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her children, her husband, and sister, on April 29, 2025, after a valiant six-and-a-half-year battle with breast cancer. Born on December 5, 1984, in a hospital in Riverside, California, to Rodney Rexford Arnold and Jacqueline Arnold (Nicholson), Dawn’s life radiated warmth, kindness, and an unwavering spirit. Known for her generous heart, she was the epitome of compassion—never judgmental, always welcoming, and the nicest person you could ever meet, touching lives without ever carrying a chip on her shoulder.
Dawn spent her early childhood in Moreno Valley, California, within Riverside County. At age three, her family lived briefly in Hawaii, then moved to Dana Point, California, before returning to Moreno Valley. They relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, when she was 13. A 2002 graduate of Ocotillo High School, Dawn explored various jobs during her teens, including restaurant hostess and a role in the Youth Recreation program at Luke Air Force Base in 2003. In 2004, she became a Lead Teacher at KinderCare Learning Center in Phoenix, nurturing the emotional, intellectual, and social growth of young children. In 2005, she joined the Maricopa County Superior Court, sparking her interest in criminology. Later, after moving to Kingman, she worked at Brown Drilling, a company co-owned by her husband, Jonathan, and his sister, contributing through estimating and general office tasks.
Dawn’s journey as a mother began in 2003 with the birth of her son, Braden, whom she cherished deeply. She was so proud to be his mom! In 2008, she met Jonathan Kaufman, the love of her life, in Kingman, Arizona. They married in 2011, and Dawn embraced Jonathan’s daughter, Megan, as her own. Their family grew with the premature birth of Samuel in 2014, requiring Dawn’s steadfast presence during his two-month hospital stay, and the arrival of Rebekah in 2016, completing their family.
A devoted mother, Dawn enriched her children’s lives with diverse experiences, from raising horses, chickens, and other animals to involving them in 4H clubs and Junior Gymkhana events. She found joy in cooking family meals and canning harvests from her garden. Throughout her valiant fight against cancer, Dawn battled with extraordinary courage, never wavering in her love for her family or her determination to live fully until her final day. Her vibrant spirit and selflessness left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her, and her absence will be profoundly felt.
Dawn was preceded in death by her brothers, Scott Nicholas Arnold and Matthew John Arnold. She is survived by her husband, Jonathan Kaufman; children, Braden, Megan, Samuel, and Rebekah; father, Rodney Arnold; mother, Jackie Nicholson; and sister, Stacey Garnett.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Joan and Diana Hospice House in Kingman or a reputable cancer center.
