Dear Editor,
Well! Well! The Democratic Party is in the process of expiring. Quoting from the Guest Column, “Who killed the democratic party”. “The Poverty Pimps constantly preach the evils of self determination and pride of accomplishment and the selfishness of those who work hard to get ahead.” At first glance the reader would speculate the “Poverty Pimps” do not work hard in order to get ahead. The writer then shoots his theory in the foot by labeling them “The privileged elite”. “Their constant mantra is ‘trust me, vote for me … you will not have to work for it like your foolish grandfather did”.
How does one become a privileged elite, like our president? I assume by inheritance, or hard work. I could be wrong, there is always the lottery.
For the sake of argument, we should take a perfunctory look at good old capitalism; after we examine the cult-like mindset permeating the Grand Old Party today. How does the electorate feel about elected senators who refuse to allow witnesses to testify with one soul who answers to a higher power than Trump and honors the very oath he took by acting on the evidence? (Even though the senate was never going to impeach anyway.) There is a fairly good chance more pertinent information is bound to be uncovered. How will senators respond to questioning from constituents?
Sixty Fortune 500 companies pay zero taxes on over $80 billion in profits: Amazon, General Electric, Netflix, Chevron, Delta, Eli Lilly, IBM, and Halliburton to name a few. Hospitals also operate on a capitalistic basis, it seems the more an insurance company will pay, the more hospitals are willing to charge. U.S. citizens pay more for medical care and medicines than any other country. Churches as well are tax exempt, even though some advocate for political preference, some even practice socialistic doctrine by pooling resources to help other parishioners.
Conservative radio hosts endorse Christian Health Sharing programs where pooled monies are used to fund medical costs for their members.
When confronted, most of us know compost by sight and smell, same goes for trumpery.
