Child killed in fatal accident

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a traffic related accident in Lake Havasu City. Local police responded at 4:47 p.m. on December 30 to the incident in the 1500 block of Beachcomber Boulevard regarding a vehicular collision involving a juvenile.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 driven by a 72-year-old male was traveling at a slow rate of speed in a campground aisle while preparing to turn into a campsite,” said police sergeant Kyle Ridgway. “At that time, the seven-year-old juvenile, who was operating an electric motorcycle, attempted to pass the truck on the right.”

Ridgway said the juvenile was run over by the truck in the ensuing collision. The child was rushed to the Havasu Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to the injuries.

Impairment is not an initial factor of focus in an ongoing accident investigation.
