The Lake Havasu City Police Department is conducting enhanced DUI enforcement during the Memorial Day weekend from Friday, May 24 through Monday, May 27. Funding for this effort is provided by a grant awarded by the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. Wendy Griffitts, Wells Fargo Bank District Manager and Marguerite Bainbridge, Wells Fargo Bank Administrative Assistant presented a check for $2500 to the Dig It Kingman Community Gardens last week.  Several steering committees members were there to accept it. This donation was an environmental grant that Dig It was awarded. The funds will go toward garden improvements, children’s educational events, soil, paint, garden supplies, irrigation, building materials and other items needed at the garden. Advocates for the Kathryn Heidenreich Senior Center filled the Kingman City Council chambers Tuesday. They urged approval of an agreement that would commit the City to provide $57,000 in support of operating the senior center for each of the next two years. They whooped and hollered with joy when they were obliged by a unanimous council vote. The same proposal was tabled during the council’s May 7 meeting because Vice Mayor Travis Lingenfelter wanted to learn more about the center and its funding needs.
