MOHAVE COUNTY – Late Tuesday afternoon, the Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified of 34 new confirmed COVID-19 cases. One of those 34 cases is a death not previously reported  It was an 80-89 year age range person in the Kingman area. There was one other death, a 70-79 individual from a previously reported case in the Bullhead City area. Of the 33 remaining new confirmed cases, 13 are in the Lake Havasu City service area. BULLHEAD CITY – Colorado River Union School District (CRUHSD) Governing Board President Kerry Burgess has been disqualified as a candidate for re-election in the November 3 general election. Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen ruled Thursday that plaintiff Royanne Ortiz prevailed in the lawsuit she filed challenging nominating petitions that Burgess submitted early this month to qualify his campaign. Central to her case was Ortiz’ contention that 25 of the 27 petitions turned in by Burgess failed to have been signed by circulators as is required under Arizona law. LAKE HAVASU CITY – Members of the public have the option to attend in person or watch or listen to the July 28, City Council meeting virtually. Lake Havasu City is taking the necessary steps to protect residents, City staff and City Councilmembers to help slow the spread of COVID-19. There are also five deaths from previously reported cases. Three are from the Lake Havasu City service area. One was in the 50-59 year age range; one was 60-69; one was 80-89.
