Fair Association Chairman Jerry McGuire has thanked Mohave County Supervisors for allowing the group to host the annual County Fair that concluded Sunday. The Board previously delayed its planned takeover of the facility leased by the Association, allowing the organization to complete events on the 2021 calendar. MOHAVE COUNTY – Bashas’ family of stores is holding pop-up hiring events across the state of Arizona this Saturday Sept. 18 at every one of its 114 grocery stores and distribution centers. The grocer aims to fill more than 850 full-time and part-time positions. All events will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at every store and distribution center. BULLHEAD CITY – Current and future welding students on the Mohave Community College Bullhead campus now get to enjoy their new building. Friday a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to show the new 2,000 square-foot multipurpose space which provides instructional and lab space. Students now have access to 12 welding booths and other outside workspaces in the adjoining yard. MCC Governing Board President, Julie Bare, welcomed everyone in attendance and introduced Bullhead welding faculty and those who worked to make the new building a reality. MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County has allocated less than half of the $6.5 million that the federal government provided in March to provide rental and utility assistance to citizens and businesses struggling during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The county has until the end of Sept. next year to complete the process. The county has partnered with the Department of Economic Security to administer the program. “To date, 1,129 applications have been submitted,” Mohave County Manager Sam Elters said during the Sept. 7 Board of Supervisors meeting. “$2.31 million has been disbursed.” The fund balance stands a $3.8 million. MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County officials have been steadfast in refuting allegations that its employees have engaged in excessive, if not illegal, enforcement of COVID-19 rules, regulations, and restrictions, but there’s a concession that staff made dozens of errors in another arena. BULLHEAD CITY – Bullhead City is pledging $65,000 toward a $150,000 package to subsidize daily air service to Los Angeles. City Manager Toby Cotter told Council Members during their Sept. 7 meeting that it’s an appropriate use of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. “Other communities across the country are using some of their ARPA funds for revenue guarantees for the airlines,” Cotter said. “We believe there’s a strong connection to a healthier community and a healthier tourism environment by having daily air service for our small businesses, for our tourists, and for our folks who need to travel.” Council Member…
