KINGMAN – The Kingman Democratic Women’s Club and Mohave County District 1 Democrats have continued into 2019 on an upbeat note of giving. Since starting in May 2018 they have collected $600 to help 123 KUSD elementary students in six schools afford school lunches. A group of Marine Corps veterans is leading an effort to restore the WWI monument located at the Mohave County courthouse in downtown Kingman. In May 1928, the citizens of Mohave County dedicated a monument to recognize the sacrifices made by military service members and to honor the memory of those who participated in the “War to end all wars”. Over the years, the monument and courthouse were a source of great pride in the community and a focus point of historic downtown Kingman. The unique monument was designed by E. M. Bullhead City is preparing for a tidal wave of senior softball enthusiasts as the 17th Annual Spring Classic Senior Softball Tournament now through Wednesday, March 6. Year after year, this popular event has continued to add teams to the brackets with teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nevada, Arizona, Washington and Utah. The tournament will have over 60 softball teams. Lake Havasu Avenue, between the intersections of McCulloch Boulevard and Swanson Avenue, is partially closed on Monday, March 4 at 10:00 p.m. through Tuesday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m. On Wednesday, March 6 and Thursday, March 7 between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., this intersection is closed to all thru traffic. Access to and from the Island remains open throughout the construction.  The public is requested to use caution and follow the detour signs when traveling near the construction area.
