Bullhead schools’ summer camp takes on Hawaiian theme

BULLHEAD CITY – Bullhead City School District students have the opportunity to learn more about the 50th state during summer camp on the Bullhead City Middle School campus.  The free program for incoming fifth through eighth graders began May 27.

BCSD’s summer camp offerings will focus on STEAM curriculum – science, technology, engineering, art and math.  Interventional tutoring is also available for students who need remedial help before the new school year starts.  There are still spots open for interested students.

STEAM classes will range from building a volcano (science) to having a Hawaiian market (math).

Summer camp students must currently be enrolled in the Bullhead City School District. Classes will be held four days per week for two weeks on May 27-30 and June 2-5.  School hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Summer camp will also include fine arts, drama and much more.

A separate summer school for students who are incoming first through fourth graders will be held at Diamondback Elementary School, and is by invitation-only due to curriculum and staffing.

Bus service is available for both summer camp and summer school, and breakfasts and lunches will be served.

Additional information about both summer programs is available by contacting assistant principal Michelle Sharpe at Bullhead City Middle School for incoming fifth through eighth graders (928-758-3921) or principal Stephanie McCorkle at Diamondback Elementary for the incoming first through fourth grader summer classes (928-758-6606).
