Bristow extends prison time for drugs possesion

Charles Bristow

KINGMAN – A Bullhead City man already serving prison time drew five years more at his Sept. 10 sentencing hearing in Kingman. Charles Bristow, 30, was sentenced to terms specified in a plea agreement approved by Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle.

Bristow was sent to prison in December, 2017 and was to be released in July, 2021 for five local burglary convictions. He was serving his time at the privately operated state prison in Golden Valley when he was caught with drugs on July 23, 2018.

Deputy county attorney Greg McPhillips said Bristow possessed a large bindle of the drug commonly known as spice, and more than 30 small papers he apparently intended to use to wrap portions within. Bristow pleaded guilty to promoting prison contraband, reduced from a possession of dangerous drugs charge.

The five-year prison term for the spice case will be served once Bristow completes his burglary sentence, stretching his incarceration into 2026.
