The 2019 Mohave County Republican Picnic was held at the Mohave County Park in the Hualapai Mountains last weekend. More than 300 people escaped the blistering heat of Kingman, Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City and the surrounding areas to venture high into the Hualapai Mountains for cooler temperatures and to attend the picnic. Downed utility pole leaves residents without power

GOLDEN SHORES – A vehicle collision involving a utility pole left 1,681 Mohave Electric Cooperative members in the Golden Shores area without power for about three hours early Tuesday morning. MEC became aware of the outage at 1:40 a.m. and crews were immediately dispatched to the scene and restored power at 4:36 a.m. Members wishing to receive outage alerts for their residence from MEC can create a SmartHub account by visiting the MEC website mohaveelectric.com. MOHAVE COUNTY – District 4 Mohave County Supervisor Jean Bishop seeks re-election next year to serve one more term before ending well more than three decades of public service. Bishop began working as a sheriff’s deputy in 1986 before transitioning to Constable, then supervisor since June 2014. VFW evacuated during vehicle fire

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Sunday fire prompted the precautionary evacuation of the VFW Hall and nearby businesses in Lake Havasu City. Fire department personnel responded at 3:20 p.m. to the incident in the 200 block of London Bridge Road. City Manager Jess Knudson said, in a news release, that the fire apparently started in the interior of a vehicle outside the buildings. Flames spread to another vehicle and were threatening the structures, so the buildings were cleared. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and no injuries were reported.
