The Mohave County Recorder’s Office prevailed in a very close competition with the Treasurer’s Office in a Toys for Tots donation drive. With just a two-toy difference separating the offices, Treasurer SueAnn Mello said she and Recorder Lydia Durst called it a tie with 266 items gathered for children’s gifts. Last week, Wecom Fiber dropped off a truck full of toys for the “Toys for Tots” program to the Voter Registration Department where the pickup boxes were located. Andrea Masnata, Marketing Director for Wecom Fiber. Voter Registration staff who sponsored the Toys for Tots drop off event at the county.

KINGMAN – A 22-year prison term was ordered Friday for one of two Yucca residents charged in the shooting death of a Kingman man. It was three years less than the possible maximum punishment under terms of a plea agreement convicting Shannon Powell, 23, of second-degree murder. Powell told authorities that co-defendant Bryan Gibson, 52, first shot Brandon Parlanti, 50, after the Kingman man drove to Yucca to confront Gibson in a drug dispute. BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City Police Department is continuing its investigation on the fatal fire that occurred on Saturday (12/16) evening and claimed the lives of five children. There were no survivors. A 13-year-old boy, 5-year-old boy, 4-year-old girl, and a 2-year-old boy were all siblings who were residents of the home. An 11-year-old boy was a relative and visiting at the time. All five children were located in the same upstairs bedroom of the two-story duplex.
