LAUGHLIN, Nev. – Team members at Edgewater Casino Resort and Colorado Belle Casino Resort joined Aquarius Casino Resort in collecting and donating nearly 25,000 items during the company’s 10th annual back-to-school drive, held July 1 through July 31.
“This is one of our favorite annual community events and we’re thrilled to now have three local resort-casinos contributing to our back to school drive,” said Sean Hammond, Vice President and General Manager of Aquarius Casino Resort, Edgewater Casino Resort and Colorado Belle Casino Resort. “This is our largest drive, yet, and we look forward to continuing to raise that bar in years to come.”
Donated items included everything from pencils, crayons and paper to backpacks and notebooks. The donations were divided and donated to three local schools: Black Mountain Elementary School in Golden Valley, Ariz., Bennett Elementary School in Laughlin, Nev. and Desert Valley Elementary School in Bullhead City.
“These supplies, such as paper, pencils, glue sticks and notebooks take the burden off parents having to purchase these items and students are supplied with the materials they need for the entire school year,” said Sandra Brown, principal at Desert Valley Elementary School. “Desert Valley truly appreciates the generous support we receive from the community.”
With Golden Entertainment’s acquisitions of Aquarius, Edgewater and Colorado Belle, the three casino-resorts worked together for the first time on this year’s back to school drive. They also held a friendly internal department challenge, awarding first place to the Marketing and Player Development team, who collected 9,758 items; second place to the General and Administrative team, who collected 8,730 items; and third place to the Casino Operations team, who collected 3,959 items.
