Angius honored for public service

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County Board of Supervisors Chairman Hildy Angius was among 15 honorees at the 22nd Annual Community Achievement Awards (CAA) presented by the Laughlin Chamber of Commerce on Oct. 26. The seven-year county supervisor and recipient of the Public Service Award expressed gratitude as she addressed 600 attendees during the elegant ceremony at the Aquarius Casino Resort.

Angius said she and her late husband Sam were blessed to have moved to Bullhead City in 2005. “We landed here by the grace of God,” she said.

Angius’ involvements with the Colorado River Republican Women’s Club, the Bullhead City Rotary Club, Bridges to Recovery, the Western Arizona Council of Governments and her many other public service arena contributions were detailed in the CAA program. Angius made special mention of her pride to have been a leader and an advocate in the substance abuse and recovery arena and for helping effect repairs and return a fish hatchery to production on the Colorado River at Willow Beach.

Angius gave heartfelt thanks to the community and the Republican Party for embracing her over the years.

“This wonderful, beautiful, patchwork of a community has supported me in almost everything I have tried to tackle,” Angius said. “Serving here has been the single greatest honor of my life.”
