Angelo gets 20 years for firing at officers

Edward Angelo

KINGMAN – A Dolan Springs man who exchanged gunfire with Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) detectives five days before last Christmas was sentenced to the Arizona Department of Corrections Friday, Feb. 23. The 20-year prison term imposed by Judge Doug Camacho is punishment stipulated in a previous plea agreement convicting Edward Angelo, 27, of two counts of aggravated assault.

The MCSO indicated that Angelo was named in arrest warrants when spotted by detectives on an ATV at a Dolan Springs intersection on Dec. 20. Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said Angelo ditched the ATV and fled into the desert.

No one was injured in an ensuing gunfire exchange before Angelo was taken into custody. Other charges in the shooting caper and charges in two other cases are dismissed in the global resolution of Angelo’s criminally related legal matters.
